Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde,

zur Zeit ist im Amerika Haus am Karolinenplatz die Ausstellung "Embodiment - A Portrait of Queer Life in Amerika" mit Fotografien von Molly Landreth und Videos von Amelia Tovey zu sehen.

Am Dienstag, den 23.Frebruar, wird um 19 Uhr zur Ausstellung ein „Artists‘ Talk with Molly Landreth and Amelia Tovey" im Amerika Haus stattfinden (mit freiem Eintritt, aber in englischer Sprache),worauf ich Euch unbedingt hinweisen möchte:

"Artists' Talk with Molly Landreth and Amelia Tovey (Organizers: B.A.Z. Amerika Haus, U.S. Consulate General Munich)

Molly Landreth and Amelia Tovey have explored queer identities by travelling through both urban and rural landscapes across the United States. They created photographic portraits and conducted video interviews to discover how age, race, gender, sexuality, and geography intersect to form a diverse range of life experiences.

The artists will discuss the project and its objectives - from how it started to where it is going. They will put the project and its methodology within a broader context of portraiture as well as the tradition of queer and feminist image and film making.

Molly Landreth studied photography and related media in Claremont (CA), Glasgow and New York and was the 2007 grant recipient of the Humble Art Foundation, New York. In the last four years, her works have been exhibited at galleries and art centers in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Toronto.

Amelia Tovey is an Australian video artist and filmmaker with a BA from the University of New South Wales and an MA in Creative Writing (Screen Writing) from the University of Technology, Sydney. She has produced or directed over 100 short music videos for the project "Shoot the Player."" (Text von der Homepage des Amerika Haus)
